The purpose of this text is to present a simple yet rigorous approach to the fundamentals of thermodynamics. The author expects to help the engineering students in such a way that learning would be easy and effective, and practical enough for workshop practice and understanding.
Chapters 1 and 2 present the development of the first law of thermodynamics, and energy analysis of open systems Chapters 3 and 4 give a presentation of equation of state and the process involving ideal gas. The second law of thermodynamics and its applications to different thermodynamic cycles are discussed in Chapter 5 and 6. Chapter 7 deals with gas compressors and its operation. Chapter 8 develops the Brayton cycle which can be omitted if sufficient time is not available.
